Nadia Ackerman is a singer/songwriter and illustrator living in Brooklyn.  She begins her artistic process by siting down at the piano and writing a song.  Once the track is recorded, she then puts pen to paper and creates artwork that embodies the meaning of the song. Mary Jane was commissioned for the Montefiore Children’s Hospital Epilepsy Unit.

Mary Jane went to Spain in a chocolate airplane. The sun it was hot, Mary Jane felt warm, Mary Jane landed on the green green lawn…

Mary Jane turned around she landed without making a sound. The grass it was soft and it cushioned her fall, Mary Jane she was feeling so small.  Mary Jane walked to town but there was no one around.  She talked to the birds and she talked to the bees.  Mary Jane Sailed out on the Seven Seas.
