Alvin Clayton
While living in Europe in the 1980s, Clayton was exposed to the artists and techniques of the post-Impressionist movement. He was greatly influenced by Henri Matisse, and now uses Matisse’s bold colors and imagery within his own work. In his paintings, Clayton seeks to create a dialogue with the viewer that is both personal and thought provoking. Harkening to the past and present, the viewer is encouraged to pause and reflect.
A man of many talents, Alvin Clayton has earned the titles of University soccer player, model, artist, and restaurateur. He is the co-owner of Alvin & Friends in downtown New Rochelle.
