Mastering the Art of Light & Compositions

  • Montefiore Medical Center 111 East 210th Street Bronx, NY, 10467 United States (map)

Pablo David Castillo, Jr. Photographer

This exhibition focuses on ‘light’ and ‘composition’. I capture the effects of light on architectural landmarks and oddities during my photographic sessions.  Whether it be skyscrapers, bridges, highways or rivers, light plays a unique role during the cycle of day and night.  Working with light to conjure magical moments, my photography captures my imagination/creativity and brings it to life.

I have been a photographer for five years and would like to announce this is my first exhibition. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to showcase my work with the Montefiore Hospital community. What first started as a hobby will now become the next step of living my dreams in becoming fulltime. It is an incredible positive feeling to showcase my perspective of NYC and the Bronx. The Bronx is unfortunately known as the most underrated borough of NYC. Being able to showcase the beauty and unique views that the Bronx has to offer will change the way people view this borough.

There have been many obstacles in life I had to overcome. The hardest was the loss of my mother. My mother was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2012 and was a patient here at Montefiore Hospital. It was a long battle and she fought with every bone in her body to outlast the damage it was causing. Throughout my time visiting here I noticed the art and sculptures displayed around various hallways, I can admit they were comforting to see and made me feel a sense of positivity through my dark times. It is now with great honor to have my work displayed here. Not only to give back the comforting sense of positivity for those going through hard times but also in dedication to my mother.
