Montefiore’s mission- to heal, to teach, to discover and to advance the health of the communities we serve – serves as the driving force behind all of our work, including the Montefiore Fine Art Program and Collection. The Collection is integrated into the daily life of Montefiore, fostering a life-affirming, restorative and supportive environment for patients, families, caregivers, students, faculty, and staff.
We Create Environments.
"In the main entrance, a huge 'light as air' sculpture greets the visitor. It shimmers from white to the most beautiful blue colors. Upon closer look, you see it is made of painted and dried leaves in motion forming a chandelier. You have to see it. All of this takes you away from why you are in the hospital in the first place."

“A doctor was in my elevator with Montefiore scrubs so of course I talked her. She said she enjoyed my work on those late nights....they brought her calm ❤️

Signs of Compassion
by Miggs Burroughs
at Burke Rehabilitation
Based on Emily Dickinson’s poem of the same name, old and young; Black, white and Asian — all learned one word or phrase in American Sign Language. Through Miggs’ unique lenticular photography, each sign shows the beauty of that form of communication. It’s also a “visual chorus of our community, expressing the need for compassion in the world.”
Thanks to the generosity of Melissa Ceriale — the 30 portraits are on view at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains.

Young Artists Celebrate Montefiore’s Heroes
In support of the Montefiore community, elementary school students created inspiring artworks to thank all associates who have been working tirelessly during the Coronavirus pandemic. Their imagery with words of love and encouragement brighten essential workers’ spirits. We thank each and every students for expressing their support of Montefiore Medical Center!
